At 6:00 PM on May 13th, 2020, ChinaSpro was contacted by the captain of the "Wan Rong Hai" ship and Mr. Wang Shuguang, the section chief of the COSCO Shipping Passenger Transport Company, regarding an oil spill that had taken place at the Dalian Bay Passenger Terminal. The spill had caused significant pollution in the surrounding waters.
As soon as the notification was received, ChinaSpro's emergency response team activated the company's pollution emergency response plan and dispatched the response team to the scene. One hour later, at 19:35PM, ChinaSpro’s the emergency response vessel "Yongsheng 6", "Xipu 8" and "Yongsheng2" arrived at the site one after another. Upon arrival, the team immediately conducted an oil spill search on the outer sea surface and deployed 600-meter-long oil-absorbing towlines to control the spill. The team used specialized equipment to scoop up oil-soaked pads and deploy new ones in the most affected areas. Additionally, they used biodegradable oil-degrading agents to break down the thick black oil film that had spread over a wide area.
Despite the high winds and rough seas, the team persevered, standing on makeshift foam rafts to reach hard-to-reach areas and completing a rigorous inspection of the ship's oil spillage points. Other team members boarded support vessels to continue cleaning the ship's hull and surrounding areas, using specialized equipment to remove contaminated ropes, nets, and debris.
